Choosing cat litter & litter boxes
All of these are trays and scoops. The choice comes down to three things.
Open or hooded
A hood keeps smell and scattered litter in, and most cats accept one. Some will not use a covered tray at all — if yours is nervous, start open.
Size
Your cat should be able to turn around comfortably: roughly one and a half times their body length. Small trays are for kittens and small flats, not for a full-grown cat.
How many
One tray per cat, plus one spare. Two cats means three trays. Cats will refuse a tray that is already used, and most indoor accidents come from there being too few.
Scoops with slots are for clumping litter; a solid scoop is for crystals and pellets.
